Workshop on Biological Assessment Methods for Rivers and Lakes, 2008A workshop on “Biological Assessment Methods for Rivers and Lakes” was held in Zagreb on 21st and 22nd of April 2008. The workshop was prepared by STEs Ursula Schmedtje and Mario Sommerhäuser together with Dagmar Šurmanovic from Croatian Waters.
The aim of the workshop was to give more detailed information on biological assessment systems developed in Germany and to establish bilateral contacts between scientists of different biological organism groups.

Workshop on Biological Assessment Methods for Rivers and Lakes, 2008There was great interest in the workshop: more than 50 biological experts from Croatian Waters (Hrvatske vode), Biological Department of Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, Institute Ruder Boškovic and Croatian Environmental Agency attended.

The presentations from German experts gave an overview of the existing biological assessment systems in Germany, while the Croatian experts presented the current state of development of the Croatian assessment systems.

Workshop on Biological Assessment Methods for Rivers and Lakes, 2008The workshop concluded with an agreement of a new workshop dedicated to the development of monitoring programmes (all quality elements including physical-chemical and hydromorphological elements) that will be held in  autumn of 2008.
